Cleansing of the Body & Mind.  Bathing.  After a long day at work, draw a bath or warm soothing shower.  Get into comfortable clothes and begin the process of releasing any negative energy that you may have brought with you into your home. Put aside this time for yourself. Even as little as 15 minutes can change your life. After cleaning the outside, feed the inside with healthy foods.

Getting rid of the negative karma. You may have encountered a jerk boss, or a snotty customer, or someone wishing bad on you at some course of the day. Someone may have pulled out in front of you on the way home, or cut in front of you in line.  A coworker may have been rude or a supervisor may have placed you under a great deal of stress.  Whatever the situation, let's throw it away.  Get a small piece of note paper and write down the name of the person or situation who upset you.  Place the paper into a crystal glass or bowl.  After placing your paper in the bowl, think of the situation and how you are ridding it from  your life.

Burning of Bad Karma.  Sometimes tossing away negative karma into the bowl is not enough.  To safely burn the negative energy away,  I recommend burning Tibetan Karma Incense Sticks. Burning incense can cause smoke that irritates the lungs, so I do not advise anyone to do this on a regular basis.   Purchasing a flameless candle that runs on batteries is a great alternative to anyone bothered by smoke.   I myself have had much success burning the paper from my Karma bowl.  Any burning needs to be done with caution and safety in mind.

Prepare to Move Forward.  Now that you have washed the negative feelings from your body,  tossed them into a bowl,  meditated on ending the cause of your stress,  and burned the remnants of ill spirits,  it is time to move forward.  Prepare to put any conflict or ill will behind you.  You threw it away and destroyed it, so it should no longer exist.  Go forward in peace and do not carry it with you.

Avoiding Negative Karma. Although not all bad Karma in life can be eliminated, we can avoid creating more. We can protect ourselves against evil doers and even objects filled with negative energy.  There are many ways to accomplish this. Some steps that have helped me are:

Eliminate clutter.  Many people like to hang on to things.  For years and years they may hold onto old furnishings or mementos, and other physical objects that possess negative energy. A simple rule of thumb is, keep the things you need and get rid of the baggage.  Free yourself from being a material person wrapped up in possessions.  Make an effort to avoid bringing possessions into the home, especially used items that may have a long past and carry negative energy into your home.  If a non-spiritual, ungodly, or otherwise evil person gives you something, don't hang onto it.  Think about everything you bring into your home and ask yourself where it has been.  Keep your possessions simple, and as environmentally friendly as possible.

Don't Keep Unwanted Things.  If you have a birthday and people give you gifts that you do not want, don't put them in a cupboard and forget about them.  Promptly give them away, or even sell them for extra cash.  Do not keep unwanted items in your home.

Don't associate with people of questionable morale character.  Many times I have seen people carrying bad Karma with them everywhere they go.  After seeing where they came from this was no surprise to me.  The people we grow up with, the neighborhood we live in, the associations we make,  all impact the amount of Karma we carry with us.   But do not allow others to bring you down with them.  Hold a higher standard for yourself as a spiritual  human being.  Reach out to people with strong ethics who are trustworthy.
